Exploring Sandbox Functionality
As a first-time user, understanding the capabilities of our platform is key to leveraging its full potential. In this section, let us help you know some of Togai's features.
Events
Before we delve into Events, here is a brief about what Togai is built to do. Togai is a metering and pricing platform that helps companies implement and automate the billing for any pricing model. We are based on an event-driven architecture, i.e., any action that happens on your product, be it a button click / an API call / a transaction entry in your database, can be modeled as a monetizable event in Togai. We then provide you with the flexibility to price those events using any pricing model and then bill your customers. In addition, we provide you with real-time visibility to all your monetizable usage data and your revenue metrics.
Now, here is a bit about events.
Within Events, you can view Event Schema and Event Stream.
- Event Schemes in Togai provide a structured framework for defining the format of event ingestion. This organized approach simplifies data ingestion, making it easier to process and analyze the events efficiently. They serve as templates for data collection, ensuring consistency and reusability across multiple customers. To understand how to add/edit an event schema, you can refer to this guide
- In Togai, the Event Stream consists of three states that help you track the processing status of your events.
- The "Processed Events" list provides details of the events that have been successfully processed by Togai, helping you understand if the intended actions or data transformations have been executed accurately.
- The "Unprocessed Events" list contains events that could not be successfully processed by Togai, helping you identify any issues or errors in the event ingestion process. It enables you to take corrective actions, such as troubleshooting data inconsistencies or making necessary adjustments to the event structure.
Billable Items
Usage Meter
Usage meter is the definition for metered components in your pricing model. Eg: The number of API calls, the sum of the transaction amount, the duration for which a cloud instance was up, and monthly active users, to name a few. The usage meter feature is how one can define how incoming events are aggregated, providing a clear understanding of your usage and enabling accurate billing based on consumption.
If your pricing strategy includes features with variable pricing based on consumption, the usage meter feature provides the flexibility to adapt and customize pricing based on specific metrics.
Additionally, the usage meter feature allows you to segment your data based on conditions or filters, empowering you to analyze and measure consumption based on specific criteria. You can also define different aggregation types like "COUNT" and "SUM" to compile and calculate the ingested events at the end of a billing cycle.
Add-ons
Add-ons are the way to define and model any unmetered components in your pricing model such as recurring platform fees or subscription charges or one-time implementation fees.

Customers
The Customers feature in Togai offers a comprehensive solution for managing customer accounts and their associated price plans. With a hierarchical structure, customers can have multiple accounts, allowing for better organization and management. Within each account, you have access to crucial details such as the attached price plan, duration, billing cycle, and start date. This provides a clear overview and enables efficient management of pricing options, including the ability to detach or override the price plan.
A customer can have multiple accounts and each account can be associated with a different plan. Additionally, the credits feature allows you to track credits associated with an account.
Within the Customers section, the settings will reflect all active integrations.
Price Plans
The Price Plans feature enables you to define and configure a collection of pre-set conditions with associated cost values, allowing for the conversion of usage metrics into billable values. By creating a price plan, you can establish the pricing structure for your products or services. The feature offers several benefits, including the ability to:
- Customize Pricing: You can define the billing period by selecting a pricing cycle, such as monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, or annually. Moreover, you can choose the currency/currencies you want to apply to the price plan. This flexibility allows for tailored invoicing and aligning pricing with specific business needs.
- Incorporate Fixed Fees: The integration of Add-ons within the Price Plans feature enables you to apply one-time fees to your products or services. This functionality supports the inclusion of additional charges, such as setup fees or professional services fees, enhancing revenue streams.
- Implement Rate Cards: Rate cards allow you to charge customers based on their usage. With options for standard, tiered, or volume pricing models, you can define pricing tiers, associated costs, and limits. This provides the flexibility to structure pricing based on different levels of usage, ensuring fair and accurate billing.
- Establish Minimum Commitments: You have the option to set a minimum commitment fee that customers must pay if their projected usage target is not met. This feature provides a level of predictability and ensures a minimum revenue threshold.
Note: Price Plans can be overridden at an account level.
You can read more about it here!

This streamlines data migration and enables you to quickly transition to Togai's ecosystem.
Invoices
The Invoices feature in Togai provides you with a convenient way to manage and view invoices generated for each customer based on their billing cycles. Within Invoices, you can view a list of past invoices generated for customers. This allows for easy reference and tracking of billing history. You can also access and review invoices that are currently being generated or are in progress. This helps you stay updated on the latest billing information and monitor ongoing transactions.
By selecting a specific invoice, you can delve into the details of each invoice item. This includes information such as the attached price plan, line items of each usage meter, and the total amount due. This level of invoice visibility enables you to understand the breakdown of charges, monitor usage metrics, and ensure accuracy in billing.
Integrations
The Integrations feature in Togai enables you to easily connect Togai with other business applications without the need for coding. This feature offers several capabilities:
- Pre-built Apps: Togai provides a range of pre-built integrations. These Apps seamlessly connect Togai with various business applications. They offer triggers, which can be thought of as "cues" that prompt Togai to perform certain tasks. Triggers are essentially the events that Togai watches out for, and upon their occurrence, it initiates the predefined actions or workflows associated with them. They also offer actions. They are the "do" part of the integration process, where Togai carries out a particular action (such as creating invoices or updating accounts) based on a trigger or user input.
- Custom Flows: Togai offers the flexibility to create custom Flows based on specific business requirements. Flows are sequences of actions executed based on trigger events. Triggers. This customization capability allows you to automate processes and workflows, saving time on manual tasks and ensuring seamless data synchronization between Togai and other applications. Let’s take an example. Flow: Sync accounts created from Togai to Stripe (for new customers)
- Trigger: A new customer is created in Togai
- Action: Create a customer in Stripe and sync the customer ID between Togai and Stripe.
- Activity Logs: Togai maintains comprehensive activity logs that record all the runs of an App. These logs provide visibility into the execution of flows, including triggered events, executed actions, and any errors encountered. Activity logs help you monitor and track the performance of integrations, identify potential issues or discrepancies, and ensure the smooth functioning of automated processes.
Today, we have two-way native integrations with Zuora, Stripe, Zoho books, Razorpay, and more.
